USC Village

USC Village is the largest development in the history of South Los Angeles. The $700 million mixed-use project consists of 5 buildings with retail and restaurant space on the ground level and four floors of student housing above, as well as a utility building that serves the entire USC Village campus.

Outside of the 13,700 sq. ft. the building, the MMA created a contemporary space with an urban park feel. They combined composite wood, metal and stone materials to achieve a modern look. The clean and welcoming space is lined with greenery, custom benches, and enhanced and illuminated by light columns.

Located off the 101 Freeway in Thousand Oaks, California, is the existing Janss Marketplace Shopping Center. The Center is comprised of over 450,000 sf of retail, restaurant and a nine-plex AMC Theater.

West Angels Plaza has been a part of the vision by the surrounding community for the last 10 years. The project is part of the Federal Stimulus program, for the revitalization of neighborhoods. The 23,000 sq. ft. project anchors this major intersection in the district with iconic towers that light up as beacons at night.

Located in the heart of the Los Angeles premier shopping district and across the street from the Beverly Center, the existing shopping center is made up of four, two-story retail structures surrounding a four-story parking garage. The revitalization of the Beverly Connection encompasses the addition of two residential towers and integrating assisted care living, along with market-rate housing.

The Winston Plaza is the oldest shopping center in Melrose Park Village, a suburb of Chicago. The shopping center was developed in the early ’60s and has been neglected by previous ownership. The proposed redevelopment and renovation of Winston Plaza’s existing 360,000sf will include a 50,000sf addition of new retail pad buildings and new faced improvements on the original building.

This existing shopping center at the east gateway entrance to the City of Pasadena was constructed in 1982 and has been traditionally anchored by Sears and Marshalls. McKently Malak Architects was commissioned to reposition the center and provide a new life to the center.

In order to stay abreast with constantly evolving retail formats, the owners decided to embark on a program to expand and remodel the center.
